What are proportional brake controllers?

Proportional brake controllers are also activated by the brake pedal or a manual lever. Through the use of an internal motion sensor the stopping power is adjusted to match your towing vehicles rate of deceleration, resulting in smoother braking. This type of brake controller is almost essential with livestock as it helps to control the jostling of the animals during transportation. Some of these electric brake controllers must be installed in a somewhat level position in order to function properly, and have features that allow for adjustment of the amount of total power sent to the trailer brakes, plus diagnostics and push button signal boost capability.
